Woman 2nd vs Sidmouth and Ottery 3

Kate Williams writes:

Today we were reunited with that big yellow thing in the sky! — a lovely day as we welcomed Sidmouth and ottery 3’s. Spirits were high from the outset, and we were determined to make the most of it.

For a while, we battled hard, trying to break down a stubborn defence with structured passing and strong communication. Our mids and forwards never gave up. Eventually, the breakthrough came — the ball crossed into the D with a lovely finish by Ellie

The goals began to roll in…. A second followed shortly after, again finished by Ellie as the pressure continued to mount

Sidmouth stayed very persistent and put up a strong fight. With their forwards staying high and their defence launching some very strong hits, we were threatened by a few quick breakthroughs, but they were quickly defused by our defense. They managed to win a short corner, which turned into another, but our defensive wall applied relentless pressure and stayed strong to deny them a goal.

Having worked hard this week on our movement and structured passing to create opportunities to drive/hit into the our D, it really paid off. Ellie completed a hat-trick, and then added a 4th, and we finished the first half with a commanding 4–0 lead.

After some fuel filled jelly babies and a motivational speech from manager Gill, we were determined to ensure Sidmouth’s and otterys name stayed off the scoreboard.

Sidmouth came out with force in the second half, again their strong hits finding gaps which tested the legs of our defence. But communication and man marking allowed us to clear the ball quickly.

Our patience and passing once again shined through. After multiple shots on goal and short corners, Keely, Hannah and Beccy joined the list of scorers, bringing the final score to a dominant 7–0.

A really positive performance all round, with the scoreline reflecting the hard work of the squad — and a shoutout to our stand-in manager Gill, who started with a solid warm-up, swift substitutions and some honest (sometimes very honest!) constructive criticism

Sunshine, structure and seven goals — not a bad day at the office ☀️ a well deserved win
