Woman 1st vs Isca 3

North Devon Ladies 1 set off to Exeter on the weekend to face off against Isca 3.

The first half was evenly matched between the two teams who were trying to assert dominance. North had majority of possession but had moments of hope to get on the scoreboard first but were unable to get through Isca’s defence. A few short corners came North’s way however they weren’t able to convert. The home team were able to break a couple times but North’s defence were strong as usual. During the first half, Isca’s goalie decided to take out Georgie Worrallo and North were unlucky to not walk away with a free hit. It wasn’t long until Georgie got back at the keeper from scoring off a short corner giving North the lead, 3 minutes before half time.

The second half got underway and North were slightly on the back foot with Isca coming out strong but they were stopped in their tracks by Kirsty Crocker, our super sub and MOTM Paige Potter who were incredibly strong in the midfield. North then gained control and were putting the pressure on the opponents. Quick pace from the wings making runs at the baseline pushed North forward whilst players up front were constantly moving and keeping Isca’s defenders on their toes. Martika Gallagher found the back of the goal after a bit of a battle with the keeper. North continued with the pressure and were awarded a short corner. A straight strike from Kirstie Hughes saw the visiting team go 3-0 up with only 2 minutes left of the game.

It was a hard fought game but a solid team performance from North saw them take the 3 points and continue on with their unbeaten streak of the season.
